Well I'll be back next week with an update on Mahou Shoujo Site likely having finished it. There's the mystery about the site admins and tempest but they're not really doing much for me. I think it might end up better than the first one but for now I'm not really liking it as much. I started reading it because it's by the same author and is supposedly a related story though I haven't seen that yet. The second thing I read this week was the first 40 chapters of Mahou Shoujo Site. If you just want a story where you are guessing at what caused everything the whole time this might be fun. My least favorite character became on of my favorites because he had the most personally actually. Should you read it? Maybe? The characters aren't the greatest if that's what you're looking for. And while the whole thing isn't the same quality as the end it's definitely not bad. Some of the big whole page panels close to the end are actually stunning. Art wise I was pretty impressed at how things were looking in the end. A demon, a witch, a god, and a rapey cop merged with a beefy magical girl. It took a while for the manga to become anything other than just a gore fest but it does eventually happen. So the first thing I read this week was Mahou Shoujo of the End. But it was still enjoyable seeing the fight scenes and all. You don't need good setup for plot progression but Fire Force progression just feels incredibly random. Almost all of the plot events happen with zero setup and everything feels very contrived. Alot of parts felt very uncanny and just too wacky and informal compared to the tone of the story.

The series has issues with tone in my opinion. I love the character designs and the backgrounds but the plot development is a bit poor. It had a strong premise and the plot, although a bit messy at times, was really interesting and fun to follow. Seeing the everyday interactions of the characters as well was nice to seeand brought alot of life into the characters. The characters were also really vibrant as a contrast to the semi-bleak world around them. The messyish backgrounds makes everything feel very cluttered and gives the whole world a very grungy feel, something that really fit the story well. I read Dorohedoro and Fire Force this past week.
